Three periods were distinguished during the analyzed years: the first one (1965-1975) may be defined as "normal fishing seasons" occurring from October to March, with catches between 8,000 and 14,000 tons.
- ItemEcología trófica de la anchoíta (Engraulidae, Engraulis anchoita) del Mar Argentino. Parte III. Requerimiento trófico individual en relación con el crecimiento, ciclo sexual y las migraciones estacionales(Mar del Plata: Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo Pesquero (INIDEP), 1986) Angelescu, Víctor; Anganuzzi, AlejandroThe paper was developed in order to arrange the data gathered on this subject and to generate new hypotheses in connection with the trophic strategy of the northern stock of anchovy in the area between latitudes 35°-42°S. Such estimates were finally compared with the values of the gravimetric determinations of stomach contents- as converted to caloric values - of individuals grouped by total-length amd age classes, ecological areas, and seasons of the year. The set of results as obtained conforms the initial basis for developing Part IV of the Trophic Ecology of the Argentine anchovy as related to food consumption estimates, by stock biomass and annual classes, with back-calculations to age class 0, and for applying "regional patterns" that result from the "consumer-food" relationship.
- ItemEcología trófica de la caballa del Mar Argentino (Scombridae, Scomber japonicus marplatensis). Parte I. Alimentación y crecimiento(Mar del Plata: Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo Pesquero (INIDEP), 1979) Angelescu, VíctorThe present study describes the morphology of the digestive system, the feeding and feeding behaviour, and the trophic relationships of the mackerel in the coastal waters regions, pelagic zone, along the Province of Buenos Aires. At the same time, this study is completed with a bioestatistical analysis on growth rhythm of body length and body weight of secondary juveniles, pre-adults and adults. All the biological information and statistical data correspond, only to the period november-march and the summer trophic habitat area.
- ItemEcología trófica de la merluza común (Merluccius hubbsi) del Mar Argentino : Parte 3 Consumo anual de alimento a nivel poblacional y su relación con la explotación de las pesquerías multiespecíficas.(Mar del Plata: Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo Pesquero, 1993) Prenski, L.B.; Angelescu, Víctor; Prenski, Leszek Bruno; Angelescu, VíctorThe English contents gives a general view on the topics treated in this contribution developed mainly on the basis of a quantitative and ecological analysis of trophic relationships in the Argentinian Continental Shelf, in which common hake and its food species are involved (anchovy, mictophids, small fishes, squids and macrozooplankton crustaceans). The most original part consist in the application of bioenergetic and simulation models for estimating the annual food consumption by individuals and by stocks of common hake during 1970-1987, considering at the same time, the effects of commercial catches on the stockbiomasses in predator-prey relationships. From this point of view three trophic-fishery relationships are evident, namely: 'Common hake-Anchovy'; 'Common hake-squids' and 'Common hake-Common '. The first one refers to a potential fishery, since the anchovy stocks are not yet intensively exploited; in the second relationship, the stocks of both integrant species makes the object of the main argentinian marine commercial fisheries; and the third corresponds to cannibalism. Consequently, the importance of the "tropic catch", that is to say, the food biomass consumed by the common hake stocks (corresponding to a part of the natural mortality M) and the necessity to consider this catch together with the commercial catch to attain a complete management strategy for the multispecies fisheries in the region of the Argentinian Continental Shelf.
